My main interest lies in the modeling of surprise and expectations. In my thesis I am particularly interested in expectations that link physical and functional attributes of control elements in human-machine interaction. I study these in the context of design decisions for smart phone and tablet user interfaces. Another research interest is the modeling of general activation and inhibiton processes.
Research interests
- Cognitive modeling of surprise and expectations (especially with ACT-R)
- User modeling within smartphone-apps
- Decision making and decision heuristics
- Agent-based modeling
