I am currently studying possibilities to model the relationship between touch interface characteristics and time on task. Moreover, I am studying ways to bridge the gap between estimates that have been derived by models prior to data collection and estimates that have been derived after data collection. Touch interfaces are used in multiple critical systems that demand visual attention that needs to be shared between the touch interface and the primary task. Sharing of visual ressources increases the risk of visual neglect of the primary task. Predicting the time on task via KLM models of touch interfaces aid designers in assessing proposed prototypes. KLM estimates however, do not learn. By synthesizing KLM models with Bayesian multilevel models, KLM estimates can be constantly revised as a prototype is evaluated empirically.
