Expectation and Surprise
Expectations play an important role in the perception and control of our environment. Surprise is the emotional signal that the perception of the environment does not fit our expectations. It routinely triggers a series of cognitive evaluation processes that perform the necessary adaptation processes to the new or unexpectedly complex environment. Our goal is the classification of different expectation types and the specification of the processes underlying expectations and surprise. We also interested in which role Expectations play a role in the initial pickup and the subsequent use of new technical devices.
